Year 1 Semester II

This course comprises promotion of mental health including:

• prevention, assessment and diagnosis of mental health disorders

• pharmacological, spiritual and psychosocial interventions

This module provides knowledge to students in identifying family and caregiver roles, community support services and concepts of residential care, daycare,home care nursing and home visits, elder abuse and neglect. This module requires student to plan a gerontology care set up.

 

This module provides knowledge and skills required in the care of the terminally-ill older person. The module will encompass topics on symptom management, psychosocial and spiritual issues and bereavement, including legal and ethical issues in palliative care.

This module provides an overview of the importance and practical aspects of rehabilitation in older persons. This module also provides an overview of knowledge and skills required in students to promote health and active ageing of

older persons, including planning for healthy andsuccessful ageing.

This module provides knowledge and skill to students in community health care and services covering support services, residential care, home care nursing, home visits and rehabilitation care. It also provides training to give quality care in a variety of situations and encompassing the enhancement of healthy aging, disease prevention and recuperation treatment.

This module provides training in nursing assessment and intervention of older persons with geriatric giants and palliative care.
